Finding A Way In The New Year

As we enter into 2025, we have two messages at the top of our mind. 


Like many of you, we’re expecting that the trend to challenge—and pull back from—diversity, equity, and inclusion is likely to continue. 


So the first message to everyone who cares about equity and inclusion is: do not self-censor. Be determined. As On Tyranny author Timothy Snyder says, “Don't obey in advance.” If and when we face pressures—financial, social, and even legal—we’ll get creative and find ways to make justice and equity happen, even if it has to be packaged differently. 


The second message, then, is encouragement. Fletcher Consulting is here to support you in your efforts to promote inclusion in your organization. Together, we will press on with this work regardless of the obstacles we face. 


No one can stop us from pursuing the basic goals of making sure everyone in our workplaces feels a sense of belonging. We can continue things like team-building and inclusive leadership development, whatever we call them.


We truly believe that fairness, respect, and diversity benefit every single one of us—and our organizations. When people are misinformed, confused, or anxious, we can educate, clarify, and support with patience and compassion. 


And when people and institutions insult, divide, and persecute, we can stand strong in defense of what’s right.
